AIN Outline

Dear English 9 Students:

Tonight you will create an outline for your Autobiographical Incident Narrative (AIN).
First, read all three pages at the Purdue OWL website here on "Developing an Outline": "Outline Components," "How to Outline," and "Types of Outlines."
  • Then, create an Alphanumeric Outline using the notes and ideas you wrote down in class today. Make sure to group your ideas in a logical way, so that there is a "bare bones" structure of your future narrative composition.
  • Include upper-case Roman numeral headings for an introduction and a conclusion, although you may not know what you will say in these parts of your paper yet. You should also have AT LEAST five upper-case Roman numeral headings for the body of your paper.
  • Double-space your outline, and make sure that all of your indentations are even (all like headings should line up: all the upper-case Roman numerals, all the upper-case Latin letters, all the lower-case Roman numerals, and all the lower-case Latin letters should line up with each other, just like in this example)
  • Check and correct your outline for parallelism, coordination, subordination, and division.
  • Make sure your work is NEAT.

This outline is due tomorrow, and we will also edit your outline tomorrow.
